Handshake is our new system for posting opportunities to students and recruiting talent. We share this resource with Syracuse University and operate as a college within their larger umbrella. In order to register for the career fair, you must create an account in Handshake (if you haven’t done so already.) Click here to get started. *Please note, you will choose Syracuse University as the school to connect with as we (ESF) operate under Syracuse University in the Handshake system.
Registration for our spring career fair will open November 2019.
Please note, after you register in the system, you will receive a separate invoice in the form of an email from Handshake which will provide payment instructions. Should you have any questions, contact us at (315) 470-4741 or at email@example.com. We look forward to your participation.
Contact ESF Career Services directly at 315.470.6900 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like additional information and/or would like to be sure you are on the list to receive information about next year's event.
During the Career and Internship Fair registration process employers will be asked to include an organization description and overview. The description will appear on our online directory and the overview will be part of our printed directory for students.
As space is limited, note the area consists of one 6' table and 2 chairs. (Space is limited. Please plan your organizational displays accordingly. Table top displays are recommended).
Banners cannot be hung on the walls, so please bring an alternative method and supplies.
The Career and Internship Fair can get very crowded and noisy, so for the comfort of your neighbors and to eliminate extraneous noise, we prefer that you use audio only if necessary.
We will run extensions to all employers that indicate a need for electricity. If you would like electricity, please be sure to indicate that on your registration form.
Guest log-in information for ESF wireless access will be provided the day of the event.
Recruiters are responsible for unpacking and set-up of their own materials, as well as repacking and shipping after the Career and Internship Fair. If you would like to ship your materials beforehand, they must arrive at the Career Services Office (ATTN: Career Services) prior to the event date. Please mail your materials to SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, 110 Bray Hall, 1 Forestry Drive, Syracuse, NY 13210. You may set-up your table on the day of the event between 8:00—10:00 am. Unfortunately, you will not be able to set up the night before as the room will not be available.
For Profit Organizations: $150/per table (2 participants per table)
Not for Profit Organizations: $75/per table (2 participants per table)
Registration: For Profit and Not for Profit Organizations (2 participants per registration fee) includes a table with two chairs, parking, morning coffee and light refreshments, lunch and general advertising in our Career and Internship Fair handout. $20 per each additional representative.
No refunds will be given after February 18, 2020.
Searching Companies and Job Descriptions
To find the list of participating companies (and links to their profile and web site), login to Handshake. Click on 'Events' then 'Fair Search' on the top toolbars and find the ESF Career and Internship Fair.
It is a good practice, for the companies you are interested in, to check to see if they also have current job postings in Handshake. Apply if you have the skills/qualifications. Visit a company's site prior to the fair and submit your resume if you can. Then let the recruiter know what actions you have taken prior to attending the career fair. It will show them that you are motivated to work for them.
Career and Internship Fair Programming
To prepare you for the career fair, we schedule workshops around related topics. Check out the full schedule of topics and presenters by visiting the Career Development Series page.
Did you know that one of the biggest mistakes you can make on LinkedIn is not having a profile photo? It’s true! So, ditch the selfie (or empty square) and upgrade to a more professional look. You’re already at the Career and Internship Fair and dressed professionally, so get a headshot taken.
Back by popular demand, ESF students and alumni can receive a free headshot courtesy of the Career Services Office. Use your headshot to upgrade your LinkedIn profile and create a stronger personal brand and professional online presence everywhere you use a profile photo.
Headshots will be available during the Career and Internship Fair. Photos will then be emailed to students.
