How Sweet It Is! Maple Weekend Comes to Heiberg

No stack of pancakes is complete without the sweet taste of maple syrup, and this weekend you can stock up on maple syrup fresh from the tap during Maple Weekend hosted by the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment.

Maple Weekend takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 26 and 27 at the College's Heiberg Forest, 7393 Maple Ridge Road Tully, New York.

Learn how syrup gets made by taking a tour of the sugarbush and sugarhouse. Maple syrup will be on sale in the sugarhouse. People are encouraged to bring16-ounce canning jars to reduce the use of plastic. The jars will be filled for $10 a pint with a portion of syrup sales benefitting student scholarships. Dr. Shari Dann's Advanced Environmental Interpretation class will be providing family-friendly activities in the Heiberg classroom.

While you're in Tully, stop by the Tully Field Station, 550 NYRoute-281, and catch the action of ESF's annual Lumberjack Roundup! Cheer on our timber sports team as they take on Paul Smiths and Finger Lakes Community College.
