Staff Spotlight: Kathy Lang

Kathy Lang is a mother of two, a lifelong New York State resident, and the Online Education Coordinator in ESF's Open Academy. She has served in her role on a part-time basis since 2019, supporting students in the Sustainability Management program.

"It was the perfect opportunity to get back to my roots when I was returning to work after my kids became school-aged," said Kathy. "I love ESF's environmental mission."

Kathy started her career connecting environmental issues with food and nutrition at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County. It was work she found tremendously rewarding, so when the opportunity came to work at ESF, she jumped at the chance.

Most people have one favorite thing about their work, but Kathy has many. She loves her day-to-day supporting students through online programs. "It's a true honor to work with the next generation of environmental stewards," Kathy said. She also appreciates the important milestones throughout the year. ESF's Bring Your Child to Work Day and the 2021 Graduation Ceremony at the St. Joseph's Health Amphitheater are among her favorite moments.
