Exchange Program

The Office of International Education has partnered with international universities to offer both semester and summer study abroad opportunities.

Requirements and Process

ESF undergraduate student who:

  • has completed at least 30 credits towards their bachelor's degree; and

  • has achieved a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher. Important: your selected program may have a higher GPA requirement. If your GPA is less than a 3.0 please consult OIE to determine your eligibility.

  • is in good student conduct standing

Once you have selected your program, please fill out this online form to apply. You will need to sign in using your ESF credentials

There are three additional things that must be completed alongside your application:

  • Complete an Academic Plan form with your Academic Advisor and Curriculum Coordinator and upload it into the application. 

  • Write a Study Statement reflecting on your reasons for applying to the program, and on cross-cultural engagement and understanding. The full prompt is in the application. You will need to upload your statement to the application.

  • Submit two academic references. One reference should be from a professor who has taught you in class, while the second can be from your academic advisor or another faculty/staff member who knows you well.  Your references can fill out their recommendation using this online form.

If you are applying to the exchange program with the Munich University of Applied Science, you must also obtain the appropriate ESF faculty exchange coordinator's approval. Please contact Dr. Doelle of the Chemical Engineering department so that he may submit a nomination for you:

Once OIE has approved your participation in the program, you will receive additional instructions on the supplemental materials to complete for your host institution as well as post acceptance paperwork for ESF.

For semester exchange programs, ESF students will generally remain eligible for all financial aid: federal, state, and institutional. Please be sure to consult with OIE and the Office of Financial Aid for more specific information! Students are also strongly encouraged to apply for additional study abroad scholarships.
