Graduate Degree Programs
Indigenous Peoples and the Environmental Science
Students in Indigenous Peoples and the Environmental Science (IPES) Study Area collaboratively and creatively engage both Indigenous knowledge systems and Western academic science in environmental research. In this graduate program, students will analyze the colonial and decolonial forces throughout the history of environmental scientific research; articulate the value of Indigenous science within environmental science; and conduct environmental science between multiple worldviews in alliance with Indigenous Nations, all while respecting their sovereignty and rights. This Study Area is anchored by the guidance of the ESF Center for Native Peoples and the Environment.
