Cooperative Program

Cornell University and SUNY Upstate Medical University

ESF and the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University provide exchange opportunities so that graduate students can take advantage of special courses, faculty, and research facilities found at the two institutions. Cornell University is in Ithaca, N.Y., about 50 miles southwest of Syracuse.

ESF and the SUNY Upstate Medical University provide opportunities for graduate students at each institution to enroll in graduate coursework or pursue coordinated M.D./ Ph.D. degrees in environmental medicine. SUNY Upstate Medical University is located within walking distance of ESF. Graduate students interested in these opportunities should inquire at ESF's Office of Instruction and Graduate Studies.

Entry Level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT 3+3)

ESF applicants interested in physical therapy who are admitted to Environmental Biology, Biotechnology, or Environmental Science degrees can apply to the 3+3 entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in collaboration with SUNY Upstate Medical University (Upstate).

Students apply for admission to ESF and Upstate simultaneously, with the first three years of the program completed at ESF and two and half years (8 semesters) completed at Upstate. Admission to the DPT 3+3 program is based on academic achievement and personal qualifications that are considered essential for the successful practice of physical therapy. Students must be admitted to ESF and Upstate to participate in the 3 + 3 DPT program.

Prior to matriculation at Upstate, students demonstrate familiarity in the demands of physical therapy via shadowing, meet minimum GPA requirements and complete 44 credits of prerequisite coursework (completed with grades of "C" or better) as follows:
