SUNY ESF
ESF Student Ambassadors (Tour Guides and Event Support)
Do you remember visiting ESF during your college search? More than likely, your ESF Student Ambassador was one of the first people you met!
ESF’s Student Ambassadors promote and personalize the college for prospective students, their families, and other guests on campus tours. Through these guided tours of campus, Ambassadors share their ESF story and experiences, academic and campus life, as well as the history, traditions and achievements of ESF. Being a Student Ambassador allows you to leave a first and lasting impression of ESF on visitors. You are truly changing lives one tour at a time!
Guided tours last approximately 60 minutes and include the highlights of campus along with your ESF story. Tours may be given to prospective first-year and transfer students along with their families and other campus visitors.
Tour Guides are asked to attend bi-weekly meetings (a few may be required) to stay up-to-date on ESF activities and engage with other volunteers in the Ambassador program.
Why Become an Ambassador?
- Share your ESF pride
- Expand your communication and leadership skills
- Gain opportunities to engage with a wide variety of people
- Work as a team with your peers
- Share your knowledge of the college with prospective students and members of the community
- Build your resume
Student Ambassadors develop a wide range of transferable skills. Employers and graduate schools are looking for solid academic performance along with community involvement and service. Student Ambassadors gain leadership skills that will help build their resume, graduate school and scholarship applications. They earn letters of recommendations, get connected to their campus while earning community service hours, and help students learn more about ESF.
How much time is involved in serving as a Student Ambassador?
Training, campus tours, on-campus events, and recruitment will involve select weekdays, evenings, or weekends, with a minimum of 5 completed events and approximately 6 hours for meeting and discussion sessions for the academic year (fall/spring).
