Location: Teaching & Learning Collaboratory, 240 Gateway Center

Event Description: Session 3 of 3 follows up on the earlier sessions with participants having completed a review of an online course from Open SUNY using the remaining sections of the OSCQR rubric: Content & Activities; Interaction, and Assessment & Feedback. Discussion will focus on the evaluation of the different OSCQR elements and writing recommended action for improvement where course revision is recommended. This will be an active learning session, so you will get the most out of the session having done the course review using the last sections of OSCQR prior to the session, but all are still welcome to join to observe and participate in the discussion of others' reviews. The three sessions are also part of the Seminar on College Teaching course, EFB 797/FOR 797.

The OSCQR (Open SUNY Course Quality Review) Rubric is a course-level design rubric based on online best practices that has been adopted by much of SUNY and also the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) for reviewing and improving the instructional design and accessibility of online courses. The Open Academy is using OSCQR as a key aspect of our online education approach and we believe it has benefit for those of you interested in online education, and as a way to reflect on design quality for any course that is utilizing some online resources.
