Men earn two wins; women leave with tie, loss

Two ESF faculty members will be featured speakers in the Onondaga Land Rights and Our Common Future II series, which will begin Sept. 24.

Dr. Jack Manno of ESF's Department of Environmental Studies will be one of three speakers Oct. 4, when the topic is "The Great Law of Peace." Also participating in that session will be Tom Porter (Mohawk) and Onondaga clanmother Audrey Shenandoah.

Dr. Robin Kimmerer (Potawatomi), who teaches in ESF's Department of Environmental and Forest Biology, will speak Nov. 8 on "Finding Common Ground: Indigenous and Western Approaches to Healing Our Land and Waters." Joining her for that discussion will be Rick Hill (Tuscarora).

"More than 2,000 people, a mix of Indigenous and non-native, students and community members have attended so far this year," Manno said. "With all the media attention on issues related to Onondaga Land Rights — Haudenosaunee passports, cigarette taxes and cowboys and Indian stereotypes — we expect the fall events to have an even greater impact."

The Onondaga Land Rights and Our Common Future series is coordinated by Neighbors of the Onondaga Nation and co-sponsored by ESF and several other colleges and universities. Admission to these events is free. A reception and small-group discussions follow each presentation.
