Mighty Oaks Basketball Team Falls to Broome
The Mighty Oaks men's basketball squad opened its season Nov. 3 at Broome Community College against the defending Mid-State Athletic Conference champions (NJCAA Division III).
The Hornets' zone defense gave the Mighty Oaks some trouble to start, but the ESF team battled back and stayed within a 10-point margin for most of the second half. Ultimately, 12 of 27 shooting from the free throw line doomed the Mighty Oaks as Broome prevailed,70- 53. ESF was led by sophomore forward Andrew LaPolt who tied a career high with 17 points.
The Mighty Oaks will travel to SUNY Canton Saturday, Nov. 5. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
