Mighty Oaks Athletes Earn All-American Honors

As the 2015 fall sports season ended, the USCAA named its 2015 All-American and Academic All-American teams.

In women's soccer, senior Madison Cummiskey and junior Heather Carl were named first-team All-Americans. This is the second year in a row Carl has received the honor. She was the leading goal scorer for the Mighty Oaks, with 13 goals. Cummiskey played almost every minute in every game this season and was a crucial part of the Mighty Oaks' strong defense. Senior Bryony Striffler was named a second-team All-American for the second straight year. along with sophomore midfielder Anna Bishop. The women's soccer team ended its season with a 11-2-2 overall record, 2-1 in HVIAC conference play.

In men's soccer, Mexico City native and transfer student Jorge Guarin was named a first-team All-American. Guarin lead the men's team in scoring with seven goals, one assist and more than 20 shots on goal during the season. Receiving honorable mention was senior defender Eitan Kiin. The men's soccer team finished the season with a 6-7-1 overall record and a 5-2 conference record in their first season as part of the HVIAC.

All-American honors in cross country were bestowed upon the top 14 finishers at the USCAA cross-country championship race Nov. 6 in Lakeland, Florida. Freshman Marissa Lathrop's eighth-place overall finish earned her second-team All-American honors. On the men's team, junior Reed Scott was named a first-team All-American after he finished sixth overall. Senior Christian Freeman earned second-team All-American honors with his 10th place finish. The men's team finished in second place in the championship race while the women placed third.

Several members of Mighty Oaks teams earned Academic All-American honors. Academic All-Americans are student-athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The students are listed below.
