Student-athletes Honored at Annual Awards Banquet
More than 150 student-athletes and coaches attended the annual ESF athletics banquet April 11.
The banquet was also attended by President Quentin Wheeler and Dean of Student Affairs Anne Lombard. Each team named its most valuable and most improved players. Receiving special recognition for his contributions to the athletics program was John View, who recently retired as head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track teams.
There was much to celebrate this past year in ESF athletics. The women's soccer team made it to the national championship game. The men's soccer team qualified for the national tournament for the first time in four years. he men's basketball team finished its best season in program history. The bass fishing team qualified for a national tournament. Several individual records were set by members of the cross-country and track teams. In addition, more than 30 student-athletes were named academic and athletic All-Americans.
