Raise a Mug! IDE Supplies Trailhead with Reusable Coffee Mugs

The Office of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (IDE) is supporting the sustainability efforts of the Trailhead Cafe.

The cafe offers coffee mugs at each cash register that faculty, staff and students can use, then return to be reused. The IDE office is proud to supply mugs with the office's name and logo to help this initiative.

Here are some other recent IDE activities:

Amy McLaughlin, Title IX & Affirmative Action coordinator, has created a broader and more diverse pool of applicants in the search process. McLaughlin worked with human resources leadership to vet and post Recruitment and Hiring Resources on the new IDE website.

She also increased visibility of ESF jobs, creating automatic posting to the National Association for Multicultural Education, NYS Job Bank, and VetCentral. McLaughlin improved the Bias Reporting Form to help keep the ESF community safe and informed, and she enhanced the IDE website.

McLaughlin and staff from the Office of Human Resources worked to put materials for search chairs and committees online. This will increase transparency and accountability among prospective employees and chairs and committees involved in the search process.

Debbie Caviness, director of alumni relations, and Dr. Malika Carter, chief diversity officer, have been working on a way to canvass alumni that will help identify underrepresented people in ways that haven't before been quantified. "As a result, we will be able to give underrepresented alumni a bird's-eye view of a very different ESF than they experienced and its IDE accomplishments, which they may wish to support," said Carter.
