U.S. News Ranks SUNY ESF as a Best College

New rankings from U.S. News and World Report name the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) a Best College. ESF — one of the nation’s premier colleges focused exclusively on the study of the environment, developing renewable technologies, and building a sustainable future — earned placement on five lists that highlight the College’s academics, value, social mobility, and engineering programs.

“These latest rankings reflect our commitment to academics, research, and accessibility. In a world increasingly impacted by environmental challenges, ESF remains dedicated to educating future environmental leaders and driving positive social change so we can build a more sustainable future for all,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney.

U.S. News assessed 1,500 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality, resulting in 10 overall lists. Here's how ESF ranked:

  • #58 in Top Public Schools
  • #78 in Best Value Schools
  • #170 in Top Performers on Social Mobility
  • #167 in Undergraduate Engineering Programs
