Graduates To Be Honored at Campus Celebrations and May Commencement

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Dec. 8, 2025 — The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is honoring its December graduates with a series of on-campus celebrations and initiatives that recognize achievement and individuality. This fall, approximately 111 students completed their degree requirements, including 89 bachelor’s degrees, 18 master’s degrees, and four doctoral degrees.

December graduates will officially walk during ESF’s May Commencement Ceremony on May 9 at the Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview in Syracuse.

Events planned to celebrate graduates include:

December Soirée held Dec. 6 at Drumlins Country Club

Almost Alumni Celebration – 3–5 p.m., Dec. 10 in ESF’s Gateway Center.

Graduates are also invited to participate in the Inclusive Excellence Archive Project, an initiative that honors and preserves the diverse experiences and voices of ESF graduates. By contributing audio, video, or written reflections, students help create a permanent online archive celebrating achievements and building a legacy for future generations. Assistance with recording is available upon request.

In addition, inclusive excellence graduates can pick up regalia accessories—including cords, stoles, or coins that reflect heritage, individuality, veteran service, and accomplishments—on Dec. 9 (11 a.m.–2 p.m.) and Dec. 10 (11 a.m.–3 p.m.) in 219 Bray Hall.

“Congratulations to our December graduates on this incredible achievement,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney. “Your hard work and dedication have prepared you to tackle the environmental challenges of today and tomorrow. We are proud of all you’ve accomplished.”
