Athletic Standouts Inducted into ESF Athletic Hall of Fame
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Sept. 28, 2026 — A longtime timbersports coach and a multi-sport All-American were inducted into the ESF Athletic Hall of Fame during the ESF Awards Dinner on Sept. 25.
This year’s inductees are Andy Schreiner, longtime ESF Timbersports coach, and Shannon Gordinier ’18, one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes in ESF history.
“The honorees exemplify what makes ESF athletics so special,” said ESF President Joanie Mahoney. “Shannon’s excellence on the field was matched by her commitment in the classroom, and Andy’s achievements remind us that great coaches and mentors help shape not only successful athletes, but successful graduates and leaders.”
Schreiner has been a cornerstone of ESF Timbersports for more than 20 years, serving as a volunteer coach while competing with the New York State Lumberjack Association. His leadership and hands-on mentorship helped guide ESF athletes to numerous Spring Meet championships across the men’s, women’s, and Jack & Jill divisions, leaving a lasting impact on generations of student competitors.
Gordinier excelled in women’s soccer and track while earning her degree in 2018. A four-time First Team All-American and two-time USCAA Academic All-American, she helped establish ESF women’s soccer on the national stage and was part of three consecutive HVIAC championship teams. Among ESF’s all-time leading forwards and top sprinters, Gordinier left an enduring mark on both programs through her athletic achievement and academic success.
“The Athletic Hall of Fame gives us an opportunity to celebrate the individuals who have built the proud tradition of ESF athletics,” said Dan Ramin, director of intercollegiate athletics. “Recognizing outstanding athletes and coaches like Andy Schreiner and Shannon Gordinier ensures their accomplishments, leadership, and impact continue to inspire future generations of Mighty Oaks.”
