SUNY and ESF Affiliate Programs
Welcome to SUNY Abroad!
As a part the SUNY system, ESF students are eligible to participate in hundreds of study abroad programs through other SUNY's in addition to our own ESF programs. For the majority of these programs, you will continue to pay tutiion through ESF and all other fees will be paid directly to the corresponding SUNY school. What this means is that SUNY programs can be great AND affordable programs!

ESF Affiliate Programs
In addition to the SUNY consortium, SUNY-ESF has partnered with multiple different study abroad providers to provide additional opportunities to SUNY-ESF students. These "affiliate" programs work with SUNY-ESF to provide specific benefits to SUNY-ESF students that can often include:
- Application fee waivers
- Preferential program placement
- Additional financial aid assistance
- Automatic scholarship awards
- Guaranteed credit transfer
Although these programs are always changing, SUNY-ESF is currently partnered with the following study abroad providers. The Office of International Education strongly encourages SUNY-ESF students to research these opportunities and ask any questions about the added benefits awarded to them.
Applying to a non-ESF, non-Affiliate program.
SUNY-ESF students are encouraged to select the program that best will meet their personal, educational, and professional development goals. Accordingly, ESF students may participate in any program as long as they obtain approval via the ESF Study Abroad Request Process prior to applying.
Some common non-ESF, non-Affiliate programs that other ESF students have used in the past include:
- CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange
- SIT: Study Abroad
- Round River Conservation Studies
- Operation Wallacea
- ISDSI: Study Abroad in Thailand
Please note that these programs will need to be cleared by the Coordinator of International Education prior to enrollment.
