Jennifer Goff
Assistant Professor
219 Jahn Laboratory
I am currently recruiting graduate students (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Environmental Science to start in Fall 2024. Please reach out with any inquiries.
Research
My research examines the physiology and evolution of microorganisms native to contaminated environments. In particular, I am studying how complex combinations of environmental stressors such as heavy metals and other contaminants, warming, and fire impact the activities of key microbial populations. I am interested in how these stressors impact nitrogen and carbon transformations by microorganisms. Additionally, I am exploring adaptive evolution in the context of these stressors with a particular focus on the role of mobile genetic elements in this process.
