President’s Message

Joanne Mahoney

Thank you for your generous support of ESF. Your contributions during the last fiscal year directly supported the newly launched Campaign for SUNY ESF, a transformative initiative designed to shape the future of the College. Whether you realized it or not, your gift is part of a collective effort that is amplifying ESF’s impact: supporting our students, advancing research, and strengthening our mission.

At ESF, our motto is “Improve Your World,” and our students live that every day. They come here driven by a desire to be part of the solution. They learn from world-class faculty, researchers, and field experts, and graduate ready to make a difference and equipped to put science into action.

Thanks to your support, and the momentum of the Campaign, ESF continues to be a national leader in environmental education, sustainability, and innovation. In 2025 Sustainable Campus Index Assessment & Rating System (STARS),  ESF earned top honors across multiple categories, including sustainability curriculum, investments and finance, public engagement, and research.

We are also proud to be one of only a select group of institutions nationwide to achieve the prestigious Platinum STARS rating, placing us among the most sustainable colleges and universities in the country.

Our faculty, students, and staff lead by example through research, community service, and stewardship, and these rankings reflect that dedication. Your investment—through the Campaign and beyond—is helping us address the planet's most pressing challenges and prepare the next generation of environmental leaders.

We are deeply grateful for your partnership. You are helping us build a more sustainable future, and we are honored to recognize your generosity in this year’s Honor Roll of Donors.

With sincere appreciation,
Joanne M. Mahoney
President, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry
