ESF Celebrates Success of Student-Athletes

ESF's annual Mighty Oaks awards banquet was held April 21 to celebrate the accomplishments of student-athletes.

The event highlighted the achievements of participants in all 10 athletic programs, including the success of the student-athletes recognized nationally by the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association as All-Americans and Academic All-Americans.

ESF has 26 Academic All-Americans who had a cumulative grade point average of over 3.5 while competing in their sports seasons. In addition, 12 All-Americans were honored for their individual athletic accomplishments

The college also honored 46 seniors with Senior Athlete Awards.

This year's most valuable players were:

Women's Cross Country — Kristen Campbell and Emily Martin

Men's Cross Country — Timmy Callahan

Women's Soccer — Ashley Miller

Men's Soccer — Kyle Siegel

Women's Track and Field — Sue Fassler

Men's Track and Field — Max Woelk and Tom Arcuri

Woodsmen's Team (female competitor) — Alexandria Miller

Woodsmen's Team (male competitor) — Evan McFee

Men's Golf — Cory Piper

Men's Basketball — Suthod Young

Callahan was awarded SUNY's prestigious Chancellor's Scholar Athlete award.

More than 170 student-athletes attended the event in the Gateway Center. Entertainment was presented by ESF student bands Frends and Woodworks. Guest speakers were ESF President Quentin Wheeler and Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Robert French. The event was sponsored by Centennial Hall and the ESF Alumni Association.
