Ph.D. Student Appointed to Federal Advisory Panel
Xiaoliang Yang, an ESF Ph.D. candidate in environmental and natural resources policy, has been appointed to a two-year term on the National Coal Council, the advisory panel to the U.S. secretary of energy. Yang is research analyst and CCS team global leader for the World Resources Institute, based in Beijing, China. He expects to defend his dissertation, titled, "A Global Partnership Approach to Clean Energy Technology Innovation: Cooperation between China and the United States on Carbon Capture and Storage," in April. His dissertation supervisor is Professor David A. Sonnenfeld of the ESF Department of Environmental Studies.
