Dr. Jack Manno, who retired as a professor from ESF, and his wife, Cindy Squillace, will be honored this week with the Racial Justice Award from InterFaith Works.

The Mighty Oaks hosted HVIAC conference foe Davis College Falcons at the Carrier Dome. It was ESF's first ever home game at the loud house. Prior to the game, ESF recognized its three seniors, captains Tyler Kuhn and Andrew Koch and guard Zane Paradies, for all their contributions to the Mighty Oaks basketball program.

The College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) will host its annual celebration of International Darwin Day Thursday, Feb. 15, in F. Franklin Moon Library on the ESF campus.

Dr. Myron Mitchell Appointed to EPA Advisory Committee

Dr. Myron Mitchell, a SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus at ESF, is a member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Board of Scientific Counselors (BOSC) Air, Climate and Energy (ACE) Subcommittee. Mitchell was asked by EPA Administrator E. Scott Pruitt to serve a three-year term through December 2020.

ESF Joins SUNY Puerto Rico Task Force

In recognition of his years of work in Puerto Rico and recent testimony to Congress about the state of disaster response, ESF Chief of Staff and Chief Sustainability Officer Mark Lichtenstein was invited by the chancellor to serve on the task force. According to Johnson, the group is working to channel "the significant expertise and service capacity of the broad SUNY community to partner with educational, governmental and non-governmental entities in Puerto Rico to support their short- and long-term efforts to recover and rebuild a sustainable, resilient and vibrant Puerto Rico."

Canid Camera is a project by a post-doctoral associate, Dr. Amanda Cheeseman, a mammalogist and conservation biologist, that engages citizen scientists in identifying the animals captured on trail cameras and, in turn, could help determine the future of young forests.
