SUNY Diversity, Academic Excellence Program Awards $5G to ESF

Provost Nosa Egiebor and Dr. Malika Carter, ESF's chief diversity officer, submitted a proposal titled "ESF Faculty Retreat for Transformative Teaching & Learning" through the SUNY Explorations in Diversity and Academic Excellence grant process.

Funded for $5,000, the grant will support establishing new ESF faculty as change agents and furnish them with tools to create an inclusive, diverse and equitable environment at ESF. By participating in the ESF Faculty Retreat for Transformative Teaching & Learning, participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore a broader understanding of inclusion, diversity and equity (IDE) aspirations and successes at ESF and how they relate to the College's mission of sustainability
  • Understand how bias and social identities can affect inclusion and access to resources
  • Explore how aspects of power and access can impact the College community
  • Obtain skills and knowledge needed to manage requirements and protocols of grants
