Become a Mentor in Violence Prevention
ESF is training students, faculty and staff to be involved in preventing sexual and interpersonal violence through participation in the bystander intervention program Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP). Faculty and staff training will take place 9 a.m. to noon, March 15 in 408 Baker.
MVP was created by Jackson Katz in 1993 and has been used by a variety of organizations including colleges, high schools, sports teams and the military. MVP's goal is to raise awareness, challenge thinking, foster open dialogue and inspire leadership. It is designed to be interactive and participatory, learning ways to be empowered to intervene in situations based on what a person feels most confident and safe doing. Doing nothing doesn't ever have to be an option.
More information is available at the MVP website.
This training is a result of the work the Coordinated Community Response Team is doing as part of ESF's federal grant to address campus sexual assault, domestic/dating violence and stalking. Training will be conducted by members of the CCRT who have completed facilitator's training.
There is an initial cap of 30 participants for this session. Another training opportunity will take place after graduation.
This training is open to everyone. Those interested can go HERE to register. There is no fee for the training.
