ESF Named a Best College by U.S. News and World Report

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment, has been recognized as one of the best colleges in the nation, according to the 2022-2023 ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

"The recognition of ESF's programs among the top universities and colleges across the country is a testament to the hard work and dedication of ESF faculty and staff to ensure our students are well-prepared to work toward creating a sustainable future," said ESF President Joanie Mahoney.

U.S. News & World Report assessed 1,500 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality, resulting in 10 overall lists. Here's how ESF ranked:

  • No. 48: The nation's top public schools
  • No. 93: Best value schools
  • No. 105: Best national universities
  • No. 184: Best undergraduate engineering programs
  • No. 186: Top performers for social mobility
