ESF’s Lt. Bliss Graduates from the FBI National Academy

SYRACUSE, NY – Sept. 27, 2024 - Lieutenant Gregory Bliss, a member of the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry’s (ESF) University Police Department, has graduated as a member of the 291st session of the FBI National Academy.

The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on Sept. 12. Bliss is the first officer in department history to complete this prestigious program. Nationally, fewer than 1 percent of officers can attend the program.

"Lt. Bliss has consistently demonstrated his dedication to professional development and skill enhancement,” said ESF University Police Chief Robert Dugan. “His recent participation in the FBI National Academy has already yielded noticeable improvements in his abilities. The FBI NA is renowned for its rigorous curriculum for top-tier law enforcement officers. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to send him to this prestigious program and am excited to welcome him back to ESF and benefit from his expanded expertise."

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend.

The 291st session consisted of 201 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. The 291st session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 46 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.
