1911 Society Reaches Historic Milestone Surpassing 100 Members in 2024-25 Fiscal Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Sept. 8, 2025 — The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is proud to announce that the 1911 Society has reached a historic milestone of 100 members during the 2024-25 fiscal year, which concluded on June 30.
Named in honor of the College’s founding year, the 1911 Society recognizes alumni and friends whose leadership giving to the ESF Annual Fund demonstrates an exceptional commitment to the College’s mission. These generous donors provide more than one-third of the total contributions to the Annual Fund each year, playing a vital role in supporting ESF’s students, faculty, and programs.
“This is such an exciting moment for ESF,” said Brenda Greenfield, Director of Advancement. “Having over 100 people join the 1911 Society in a single year shows just how deeply our community believes in the College and its future. We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity and leadership of every 1911 Society member who helped us get here.”
The growth of the 1911 Society helped propel ESF to a record-breaking fundraising year, with a total of $6 million raised in the 2024-25 fiscal year. This achievement comes as the College publicly launches The Campaign for SUNY ESF — a historic $40 million capital campaign and the most ambitious fundraising initiative in the College’s history. The campaign is focused on three key priorities: expanding student access and success, transforming campus learning environments, and advancing critical environmental research.
Since its inception in 2004, members of the 1911 Society have contributed over $2.8 million in unrestricted support, enabling the College to embrace new opportunities and meet unexpected challenges. Members receive special recognition, including invitations to exclusive events and acknowledgment in the College’s Annual Report and Honor Roll of Donors.
The ESF College Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to all 1911 Society members for their leadership and generosity. Their support ensures that ESF continues to educate the environmental leaders of tomorrow.
