Meet the Faculty - Christine Georgakakos
Dr. Christine Georgakakos shares how her path to SUNY ESF unfolded — from first hearing about the college through colleagues in environmental research to discovering its vibrant, collaborative community. She talks about what drew her to ESF: the people, the sense of purpose, and the opportunity to blend technical engineering with a broader, human-centered perspective.
Christine teaches courses in engineering hydrology and sustainable agriculture systems in the Environmental Resources Engineering department, where she challenges students to think beyond equations and consider how environmental, social, and economic factors shape real-world engineering problems.
She also opens up about her passion for teaching and the innovative ways she turns her classroom into a space for experimentation and active learning. Christine discusses her current research and new collaborations at ESF, where she connects water quality and agriculture through interdisciplinary approaches.
