Severe Weather Alert: Non-Essential ESF Employees Encouraged to Telecommute

Essential staff should report to work as directed

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 — Due to anticipated severe weather conditions in Cayuga, Onondaga, Oswego, and Wayne counties, on Friday, Jan. 2, New York state agencies, including the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), are instructed to have non-essential employees who live or work in these counties telecommute for the entire workday where possible. 

Non-essential employees who live in the affected counties but who cannot telecommute are subject to a directed absence for Jan. 2 without charge to leave accruals. Essential staff should report to work as directed.
