Account Basics at ESF

All students, staff, and faculty at SUNY ESF have two primary sets of credentials: the ESFiD and the SU NetID and password.

They are used as following, and managed by respective school resources:

ESFiD (username@esf.edu)
Managed athttps://portal.office.com

Provides access to:

 

SU NetID (username@syr.edu)
Managed at https://NetID.syr.edu

Provides access to:

  • Student @SYR.EDU email
    (https://sumail.syr.edu)
  • MySlice portal
  • Blackboard LMS
  • Zoom
  • Kaltura
  • AirOrange WiFi @ SU
  • Evergreen WiFi @ ESF

 

Accepted Students

Congratulations on being accepted to ESF!

To access all the necessary information you need to make a decision to become a Mighty Oak you will need to setup your ESFiD (username and password).

Setting up your ESFiD

  1. Login to the applicant portal
    Note: Make sure you know what email you used as you will need it for step 5
  2. On the left, inside the yellow box, find your F#
  3. Write down the number, including the F and all the zeros
  4. In the yellow box, click the link to set your password
  5. In the middle, type your applicant email and your F#
  6. Create a password, it must include:
    1. 14 characters
    2. Upper case letter
    3. Lower case letter
    4. A number
    5. A special character (!@#$%^&*()_+=)
  7. To agree to the computing guidelines, check the box
  8. Click Submit

If you were successful in setting a password you will be shown your ESFiD (username). Please wait 15-20 minutes before trying to login to ESF systems with your new ESFiD.

If you received an error message make sure your are using the right email, have your F# correct, and that the password meets all the requirements listed above. Need help? Reach out to the CNS Help Desk for assistance.

New Students

Now that you have made the decision to come to ESF you need to finish setting up your ESFiD in order to access all ESF resources and setup your SU Net ID.

Important! Make sure to use a different browser or a private/incognito window for one of your accounts to avoid access issues.

Finish Setting Up Your ESFiD

  • Set up your multi-factor authentication (MFA) by enrolling in DUO
  • Set up your password recovery methods

Setting Up Your SU NetID

Your SU Net ID is not necessarily ready to be setup immediately. You can track the status of your SU Net ID by logging into https://myesf.esf.edu and once you have your SU Net ID, go to Net ID self-service to setup it up.
