Paul Crovella of ESF’s Construction Management program shares his journey from hands-on teaching to faculty leadership, highlighting how the department prepares students to tackle real-world building challenges from day one. Through immersive, team-based coursework — ranging from residential construction fundamentals to commercial materials like steel, concrete, and mass timber — students gain practical skills in budgeting, design, and project planning. Crovella’s research focuses on decarbonizing the built environment, exploring innovative solutions like mass timber to reduce the carbon footprint of construction. Driven by a passion for student growth and environmental impact, he emphasizes how ESF students are equipped to lead sustainable change in the construction industry.
