The Graduate School at ESF
Dean's Message

Welcome! ESF is the only institution of higher learning in the United States that is dedicated solely to the study of our environment in all its complexity, from the basic and applied sciences, to engineering, design, and planning of both natural and human communities.

ESF offers programs that focus on the exploration of every facet of the earth’s biosphere, from pristine wild land ecosystems to the most contaminated of urban brownfields. We are a vibrant community of scholars pursuing environmental discovery in the basic and applied sciences, engineering, design, construction, community planning, public policy, and resource management. Our faculty and students are engaged in perhaps the most important work humankind will undertake in generations: discovering and developing ways for our society to adapt to a more sensitive and sustainable model of living on earth.

If you are committed to addressing the monumental environmental challenges facing the world in the 21st century, I invite you to consider one of the graduate programs of study here at ESF. We offer an extensive range of advanced academic and professional degrees, including the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Science (MS), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Master of Professional Studies (MPS), and the Master of Forestry (MF).

Please visit the home pages of the department of your interest areas for specific details about graduate program opportunities. You'll find a wealth of information about the faculty, their specific areas of scholarship, and their engagement with graduate students.
