OIDE Offers Orientation Programming

The Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (OIDE) has programming to welcome students to ESF.

There's More To My Story: Friday, Aug. 21, 2 to 3:30 p.m. is open to new undergraduate and graduate students.

Are you wondering what to expect as a new student at ESF? Join the OIDE as undergraduate, graduate students, and ESF staff share their stories, challenges and the resources or methods they utilized to overcome them.

"There's More to My Story" is an orientation program consisting of a diverse group of current students offering first-person accounts of their initial experiences and feelings in the diverse community at ESF. Stories and experiences can focus on topics such as gender, race, ethnicity, citizenship, sexual orientation, age, military status, economic status, or whatever topic students would like to share their experiences about.

All participants must register for the Zoom even at https://syracuseuniversity.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJclfu-vqTguHdbz73KvJYd_aD7nXRug5-gl

The final Zoom link will be sent to participant's email after they have registered. Registration deadline is noon Friday, Aug. 21.

The OIDE Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception is set for Friday, Aug. 21 from 4 to 5 p.m. This event is open to new and returning undergraduate and graduate students as well as ESF employees.

Please join the OIDE for the annual Inclusive Excellence Welcome Reception. This reception is held every semester to welcome to ESF new students who self-identify as being underrepresented at ESF or in STEM fields. This includes students of color, international students, LGBTQIA+ students, students with disabilities, students of various faith traditions, and more.

This is a great opportunity to see your fellow students, as well as faculty and staff who are here to support you. You will hear from some of the offices and student groups that exist at ESF to help all of us build community.
