The Ranger School Class of 2025
Graduates of ESF’s Ranger School Honored During Ceremony
WANAKENA, N.Y. – June 10, 2025 – Awards and honors were bestowed upon graduates of SUNY ESF’s Ranger School during recent commencement exercises.
Abby Chevalier of Schenectady, N.Y., and Stephanie Martin of Ballston Spa, N.Y., earned valedictorian and salutatorian honors, respectively. Program scholars – students with the highest GPA in a program - were Chevalier in forest technology; Sedge Algiere of Tarrytown, N.Y. in environmental and natural resources conservation: and William Brewer of Corinth, N.Y. in land surveying technology. Class president Kim Lockwood of Cortland, N.Y. gave the student remarks.
Maple Leaf Awards were presented to Algiere, Cameryn Bauman of East Aurora, N.Y.; Samuel Bouchard of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; Chevalier, Jonathan Child of Morris, N.Y.; Mason Darsney of Elkton, Md.; Molly Franklin of Berkeley, Calif.; Shaye Gruenberg-Theiling of Holbrook, N.Y.; Eliot Jensen of Berkeley, Calif.; Manuel Rodriguez of West Haverstraw, N.Y.; Sean VanRiper of Putnam Valley, N.Y.; Phoebe Weinberg of Putney, Vt.; Liam Wood of Binghamton, N.Y.; and Aisha Zungu of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Commencement for Associate of Applied Science graduates was held May 24 at the Clifton-Fine Central School in Star Lake. Degrees were awarded to 26 students in the forest technology program, 15 in the environmental and natural resources conservation program, and 13 in the land surveying technology program.

The Ranger School in Wanakena, N.Y., offers students a unique educational experience in a spectacular natural setting. The Ranger School confers the associate in applied science degree (A.A.S.) in three areas of study: forest technology, land surveying technology, and environmental and natural resources conservation. The Ranger School's one-plus-one plan allows students to complete their first year at the college of their choice, and then spend their second year at The Ranger School.
