Academics at ESF
Mathematics

The Math Program is responsible for the general math courses offered at ESF.

Not all math courses fall under the responsibility of the Math Program. For example, the statistic courses are not part of the Math Program. Differential equations or partial differential equations are not currently under the responsibility of the Math Program. The courses that are under the responsibility of the Math program include:

  • APM101 — Fundamentals of college algebra. This course is intended for students to explore deeper relationships in algebra.
  • APM103 — Applied Algebra and Trigonometry. This course is intended for students that want to fulfill their math requirements, but are not required or do not plan to take additional math courses
  • APM104 — Pre-Calculus with College Algebra. This course is intended for students that are preparing for calculus.
  • APM105 — Survey of Calculus and its Applications (differential calculus). This is intended for students of the life sciences.
  • APM106 — Survey of Calculus and its Applications II (integral calculus). This is intended for students of the life sciences.
  • APM205 — Calculus for Science and Engineering (differential calculus). This is intended for students in the engineering or hard science programs.
  • APM206 — Calculus II for Science and Engineering (integral calculus). This is intended for students in the engineering or hard science programs.
  • APM307 — Multivariable Calculus (differential and integral calculus in 3d and beyond). This is intended for students that completed APM 106 or APM 206.
