SUNY ESF
President's Remark
Thank you to the ESF network of alumni, advocates, and close friends who help to ensure
we can best support our students and their families — and our faculty and staff —
so they can be successful.
There are exciting changes happening on campus. Our historic Marshall Hall reopened
in the Fall 2023 semester. Every floor in the 93,000-square-foot building underwent
renovation. The building offers students state-of-the-art classrooms and studio space.
We are also thrilled to have welcomed 22 new faculty members to the College for the
2023-24 academic year. These faculty represent a remarkable cohort of educators, scientists,
and researchers. Their experience, perspectives, and knowledge will play a crucial
role in advancing our mission and inspiring future environmental leaders.
In the 2023 rankings from U.S. News and World Report, ESF earned placement on five
lists that highlight the Collegeʼs academics, value, social mobility, and engineering
programs. ESF was also recognized as a Top Performer in six categories of the 2023
Sustainable Campus Index based on the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating
System (STARS). This includes the number 7 spot for doctoral-granting institutions,
number 4 spot for Public Engagement, 3 in research, and the number one spot in Sustainability
Curriculum and Sustainable Investment.
These recent rankings reflect our commitment to academics, research, sustainability, and accessibility. In a world increasingly impacted by environmental challenges, ESF remains dedicated to educating future environmental leaders and driving positive social change so we can build a more sustainable future for all.
Thank you for all that you do to make this possible. We are deeply grateful
for your support of ESF.
