SUNY ESF
President's Remark
Thank you to the ESF network of alumni, advocates, and close friends who help to ensure we can best support our students and their families—and our faculty and staff—so they can be successful.
Our students come to ESF with a passion to improve our world, and we practice what we teach. This year, ESF became the first higher education institution in the country to be awarded Total Resource Use and Efficiency (TRUE) pre-certification for our campus-wide policies and actions to reduce waste and prioritize sustainability.
In the 2025 rankings from U.S. News and World Report, ESF earned placement on five lists that highlight the College’s academics, value, social mobility, and engineering programs. Study.com ranked ESF as the number 1 most affordable school for women in STEM.
ESF was recognized as a Top Performer in six categories of the 2024 Sustainable Campus Index based on the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). This includes the number 6 spot for doctoral granting institutions, number 7 in research, number 2 spot for Public Engagement, and the number 1 spot in Sustainability Curriculum and Sustainable Investment.
These recent rankings reflect our commitment to academics, research, sustainability, and accessibility. In a world increasingly impacted by environmental challenges, ESF remains dedicated to educating future environmental leaders and driving positive social change so we can build a more sustainable future for all.
Thank you for all that you do to make this possible. We are deeply grateful for your support of ESF.
