ESF to Begin Operations at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 4; Classes With a Start Time Before 10 a.m. Are Canceled

ESF will begin business operations at 10 a.m. this morning, Friday, Feb. 4, to allow additional time for faculty, staff, and commuting students to arrive to campus safely. In-person classes with a start time before 10 a.m. are cancelled.

The College's Facilities team has been hard at work overnight and this morning removing snow, clearing roadways, and shoveling sidewalks. We have also been in close contact with Syracuse University officials and SU's weather consultant, who has advised that the vast majority of the expected snow has fallen and the winter storm will begin moving out early this morning.

Faculty, staff, and commuting students are encouraged to use their best judgment when traveling to and from campus today and should coordinate with their supervisors and faculty if they have any concerns. If you are working a hybrid schedule, you should maintain it. For those offices where coverage is not required, employees are encouraged to take these days off (with charge to appropriate leave accruals) and supervisors are encouraged to approve employee requests.

SU is also delaying until 10 a.m. Please note that the Stadium Testing Center will open as planned at 8:30 a.m.

ESF will continue to monitor weather conditions in consultation with SU and share additional updates if further operational changes become necessary. In the event of continued inclement weather and if additional schedule changes become necessary, updated information will be announced with the notice ESF WEATHER ALERT through the following communications channels:

  • Campus email
  • Campus phone message system
  • On social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram
  • On esf.edu and esf.edu/news
  • Via local media outlets

Stay safe and stay warm!
