ESF Celebrates the Class of 2022

ESF commencement ceremony held on May 7 at the SRC Arena and Events Center. President Joanie Mahoney offered the graduates her congratulations and reminded them that they are never alone in their pursuit to improve their world. She reminded them that faculty and staff will continue to care about them and work with them to make the world a better place. Honorary degree recipient Dr. Bryan Norton participated in the ceremony virtually. He was presented with an honorary degree for his outstanding achievements and contributions to society.

Dr. Jonathan Cohen Named ESF Exemplary Researcher

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment, is pleased to name Dr. Jonathan Cohen, professor in the Department of Environmental Biology, the ESF Exemplary Researcher for 2022-23.

Dr. Douglas Johnston Named SUNY Distinguished Service Professor

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment, is pleased to announce Dr. Douglas Johnston, chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture, has been named a SUNY Distinguished Service Professor. This is the highest academic rank in the SUNY system that honors a faculty member's extraordinary community service.

ESF Athletes Celebrated During Annual Banquet

Mighty Oaks athletics celebrated a year of amazing achievements during the 16th Annual Banquet on April 29. ESF's 11 athletic teams came back strong after a year of virtually no athletic activity in 2020 due to the pandemic.

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment, will present Dr. Bryan Norton with an Honorary Degree during the College's commencement exercises at 2 p.m. May 7 at the SRC Arena and Events Center.

ESF Graduates to Be Honored at May 7 Ceremony

The College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF)—the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment—will confer more than 380 degrees during Commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College. ESF will confer approximately 340 bachelor's degrees, with about 47 students receiving master's and doctoral degrees.

Mighty Oak Monday: Alicia Fahrner

A "lightbulb" moment was what led Alicia Fahrner to pursue her master's degree in landscape architecture. After graduating college with a degree in environmental biology, she pursued various jobs in the field, but never quite found her niche. But when she heard a talk from Barbara Deutsch, a prominent member of the landscape architecture community nationally, she knew she had found her calling. That passion started her on a journey that would eventually land her back in school at ESF. Now, she is in the second year of the three-year master's degree.

ESF Alumna Brie Hymes Receives Norman R. McConney, Jr. Award for Student Excellence

The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), the most distinguished institution in the nation that focuses on the study of the environment, is pleased to announce Bri'ajah'nae "Brie" Hymes was honored with the Norman R. McConney, Jr. Award for Student Excellence. The award, now celebrating its third class of honorees, recognizes outstanding Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students for their academic merit and strength in overcoming significant personal obstacles throughout their lives.
