Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication
Ready to start using SUNY ESF systems? Set up DUO multi-factor authentication.
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) provides an additional layer of security when logging into ESF applications on a device for the first time. Using a secondary verification method like a push notification or entering a passcode, helps protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- On your mobile phone, go to the app store, install DUO Mobile
- On a separate device, another phone or a computer, go to https://esfid.esf.edu
- Type your ESFiD
- Click Go
- Type your password
- Click Go
Note: If this is the first time you have logged in after setting up your password, you will be prompted to enter you cell phone number in your profile. - In the upper right, click Your Name
- In the menu, click Profile Settings
- On the right a grey details box should open, at the bottom, click Edit Profile
- In the details box, confirm your mobile number is correct
Note: If mobile number is empty, please type in your cell phone number - In the details box, scroll to the button, check Send DUO Activation Link
- Click Save
Within a few minutes you should receive a text message with a link to activate DUO. Click the link and follow the directions on your phone. To confirm DUO is activated you can login to your ESF e-mail.
