Sustainability at ESF
CenTen Move Out Program

The Mighty Oak Student Assembly's (MOSA) SustainabiliTEAM leads efforts to minimize discarded and wasted materials during move out. At the end of each semester, club members collect and sort usable materials that would have otherwise been thrown out as part of the move out process.

Commonly saved items include appliances, clothes, storage and decorations. The Grounds Crew stores these items over the summer in a POD. SustainabiliTEAM partners with the Division of Student Affairs and student Orientation Leaders to redistribute materials during Fall move in.

In the future, the club hopes to weigh the material saved from landfill and incineration to better track the impact of the program! They also hope to create a list of photos and quantities showcasing what is available to students prior to move in.

Want to get involved in this program? Reach out to Lauren Jones, Director of SustainabiliTEAM, and keep an eye on their ESF Engage Page. The club begins gearing up for move out during the academic year and begins to recruit volunteers to assist months in advance.
