SUNY ESF
Transfer Credit from Accredited Colleges and Universities
Incoming students should contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office to discuss your transfer credits.
Current ESF Undergraduate Students
Course work appropriate to the ESF curriculum can be transferred to the College, but grades and grade points cannot be transferred. Courses to be transferred to meet graduation requirements for any curriculum must be acceptable in content, and credit will be awarded only for those completed with a grade of C or higher. Credit for courses with C- grades and lower are not transferrable even with an approved petition. Only coursework completed at institutions that are fully accredited by one of six regional accrediting agencies will be considered for possible transfer credit toward ESF degree requirements. These agencies are the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Transfer credits from international colleges are reviewed by your advisor and Department.
Current students must submit a transfer credit petition to their advisor. While you can submit the petition after you complete the class, we strongly recommend you submit the petition prior to completing the class to make sure the class will transfer upon successful completion.
The following signatures are required before the petition can be processed in the Registrar’s Office:
- Advisor
- Curriculum Coordinator. List of Curriculum Coordinators
- The Department Chair is only required if your advisor is also your Curriculum Coordinator
- 227 Bray Hall or email to esfgrad@esf.edu
