Sustainable Facilities and Operations
Visitors and members of the campus community expect ESF to operate and look differently than what is typical.
They want to see solar panels and other types of renewable energy generation front and center, electric grounds equipment, green roofs, a preference for durable and reusable materials rather than those that are single-use, and compost/food rescue opportunities. It is also expected that faculty, students, and staff will collaborate and use classrooms as living labs to provide shared learning opportunities for all.
Many of the programs shared below are the result of the blending of faculty expertise, student vision and passion, and staff implementation leadership. Our campus community has an appetite for doing things differently and improving programs over time — this is sustainability in action!
