On a recent wintry Friday afternoon, a group of ESF students wandered around the Quad, deliberately making footprints in the snow. Others waited to track them, hoping to determine which foot or hand had been used to make an impression. Then they switched roles and repeated the exercise.

Houseal, executive director of the Adirondack Council for the past 10 years, has been named director of the Adirondack Ecological Center at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry's (ESF) Newcomb campus. Houseal is a professional landscape architect and regional planner with extensive environmental experience.
