Marking a major milestone for the campus and the SUNY system, ESF is the first SUNY institution to be featured on the nationally streamed Amazon Prime series, which reimagines the college search experience for students and families nationwide.

ESF Assistant Professor Jean Yang Named SUNY Sustainability Faculty Fellow

Assistant Professor Jean Yang at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry has been selected as part of SUNY’s inaugural Sustainability Faculty Fellows. The fellows, representing 11 SUNY campuses, will assist other faculty in incorporating climate and sustainability topics into existing courses and develop new applied learning opportunities.

King Jr. The 20 SUNY faculty and staff fellows are experts in their fields of study – ranging from health sciences to sustainable resources management to English.

First-ever Live Exhibit of One of New York State’s Rarest Animals at Ithaca’s Museum of the Earth

One of the rarest New York species lives near Syracuse. It is a tiny and jewel-like animal called the Chittenango ovate amber snail (COAS). This special land snail crawls among rocks and leaves in Chittenango Falls State Park – but it also lives in a conservation-focused captive breeding program at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF). Because this species is imperiled, biologists in ESF’s Department of Environmental Biology are working to increase the snail’s numbers in the wild.
